Police seek persons of interest in death

UPDATED July 20: Police no longer are seeking Chandler or Lawson. They have been able to speak with them. The investigation is ongoing.

Suffolk police are seeking two persons of interest in the death of Steven Lamar Young, whose body was found in a pickup truck at a shopping center on June 6.

Police are seeking Charles Lawson, 39, and Shanna Chandler, 26. Neither has a permanent address on file, but both have been known to visit family in Suffolk, according to a city news release.

Young, 53, of the 300 block of Shadow Lake Drive, was found lying dead in the bed of a pickup truck in the Suffolk Plaza Shopping Center. Police received a call about 8:15 a.m. about a suspicious person in the bed of the white pickup truck that was parked in spaces between Xenith Bank and the main part of the shopping center.

An autopsy failed to reveal a conclusive cause of death. Police are still waiting for toxicology test results.
