Sue Carol Garlitz

Sue Carol Garlitz, 65, passed away on July 20, 2012 in Suffolk.

Born in Maryland, she was the daughter of the late Iola B. and Milner J. Dickel.

Sue was a member of Magnolia United Methodist Church in Suffolk, and volunteered for the Crisis Pregnancy Center. She was also a dedicated member of the Kiwanis Club.

Survivors include her loving husband, Joseph “Ed” Garlitz; daughters, Michelle L. Alcorn and husband Tim of Rutherfordton, N.C., and Melissa L. Garlitz of Norfolk; grandchildren Benjamin, Emma, and Claire Alcorn; sister, Diane Engle and late husband Donald of Scotland, Penn.; and brother, Dr. Michael Dickel and wife Anne of Anaheim, Calif.; mother-in-law, Mary Jane Garlitz; aunt, Emme Kirby; brother-in-law/sister-in-law Jim and Donna Garlitz of Corriganville, Md.; nieces, Patricia Webster, Denise Engle, Brittany Dickel, Dawn Long and husband Sam of Pittsburgh, Penn.; nephews, Brian Engle, Christopher and Nathaniel Dickel, and Jim Garlitz.

The family will receive friends on Monday, July 23, 2012, from 7 to 8:30 p.m. in the R.W. Baker & Co. Funeral Home and Crematory, 509 West Washington St. A visitation will be conducted by Hafer Funeral Services, Chapel of the Hills, 1302 National Highway, LaVale, Md., on Tuesday, July 24, 2012, from 7 to 8:30 p.m. A funeral will be held Wednesday, July 25, 2012, at 11 a.m. at Hafer Funeral Services by the Rev. Ted Marsh, with a graveside service to follow at the Rocky Gap Veteran’s Cemetery.
