Juanita Boone Young departed this life on Thursday, March 14, 2013. She was born on Nov. 17, 1922, in Gates County, N.C., to the late Caleb Boone Sr. and Mary Alice Gatling Boone. She was preceded in death by her husband, James T. Young Sr.; brothers and sisters, Allie F. Sessoms, Randolph Mitchell, Mabel Artis, Vance T., CJ Jr. and Clyde D.

She was a member of Metropolitan Baptist Church, where she was a member of its Fidelity Missionary Circle and the senior choir. She loved her church and supported it until her health would no longer allow her to attend.

Her memories are cherished by her loving children, five sons, James “Jackie” Young Jr. (Lynn), Tony A. Young (Sandra), Caleb “CJ” Young, Reginald Young (Gloria) and Danny Young; three daughters, Lola Jean Barrett, Erma B. White and Dorothy Jefferson; two brothers, Carl V. Boone (Minnie), Harry J. Boone; one sister, Verna D. Alston; a very special friend, Paige Silver; grandmother of 20, great-grandmother of 11; a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives, neighbors and friends.

A funeral service will be held at 11 a.m., Tuesday, March 19, 2013, at Metropolitan Baptist Church with Suffragan Bishop Madison G. Copeland, eulogist and officiated by the Rev. Dr. Robert Hobbs, pastor. Interment will be in Meadowbrook Cemetery. A wake will be Monday, March 18, 2013, from 6 to 8 p.m. at Crocker Funeral Home.
