SUFFOLK — Inez Story “Ma-Ma” Worrell, of Suffolk, Va., went to be with the Lord on March 17, 2013, at her home surrounded by her family.
She was born on Sept. 29, 1932, to the late John O. Story and Nancy H. Story. Besides her parents, she was predeceased by her husband of 53 years, S. Jimmie Worrell, and her daughter, Nancy W. Sawyer.
She was a wonderful wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. Inez was a devoted homemaker who loved cooking and spending time with her family. Inez’s favorite hobbies included collecting cookbooks, lighthouses, working on word-search puzzle books, reading her beloved newspapers and being an avid fan of the Atlanta Braves. She also loved camping and gardening in her earlier years.
She was a lifelong member of Holland Baptist Church, the Grand Age Group and enjoyed being with her best friends, her sister, Shirley, and Esther Wood.
Left to cherish her memory are her sons, Marty Worrell and his wife, Tricia, and Jimmie Worrell; son-in-law, Billy Sawyer; daughter-in-law, Sonja Worrell; grandchildren, Craig Sawyer and his wife, Laura, Nathan Sawyer and his wife, Leslie, Michael Sawyer and his wife, Jessica, Brittany Boyce and her husband, Michael, Chris Worrell and Gracie Worrell; great-grandchildren, Sam Sawyer, Audrey Sawyer and Hadley Sawyer; brothers, Reuben Story, Elliott “Tink” Story and his wife, Avis; sister, Shirley Ross and her husband, Guy; sister-in-laws, Lucille Judkins, Nell Williams and Mary Edith Carter and many nieces and nephews.
The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. on Tuesday, March 19, at Wright Funeral Home, Franklin. Funeral services will be on Wednesday, March 20, 2013, at 11 a.m. at Holland Baptist Church in Suffolk, Va., with the Rev. Robert Bunn officiating. The burial will be at the Holland Cemetery immediately following the service. Memorial contributions may be made to Holland Baptist Church, 6519 Holland Road, (P.O. Box 7086) Suffolk, VA 23437.
