Eight honored at Tech commencement

The following Virginia Tech students from Suffolk were among those honored at the university’s fall commencement ceremony held Dec. 21, 2012, in Cassell Coliseum.

Approximately 1,314 bachelor’s and associate degree candidates, along with their families and friends, attended the on-campus ceremony presided by Virginia Tech President Charles W. Steger. The keynote address was given by Annie Hesp, an instructor of Spanish in the College of Liberal Arts and Human Sciences.

  • Parker Jennette, who received a Bachelor of Science degree in forestry
  • Samuel Howell, who received a Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering degree in mechanical engineering
  • Zachary Irby, who received a Bachelor of Science degree in psychology
  • Daniel Zasada, who received a Bachelor of Science degree in apparel, housing and resource management
  • Christopher Parker, who received a Bachelor of Science degree in environmental science
  • Heather Wineman, who received a Bachelor of Science degree in sociology
  • Jacob Estienne, who received a Bachelor of Science degree in wildlife science
  • Laura Worrell, who received a Bachelor of Science degree in building construction
