During its 16th bi-annual school reunion on July 6, the Booker T. Washington High School Alumni Association awarded five scholarships worth $500 each.

Recipients were Kiera Jordan, granddaughter of Bettie Parker and the late Rudi Parker; Gabrielle Rodgers, granddaughter of Julia Bradley; Jae Erikson Vines-Brown, grandson of the late Rev. Dr. J. Rayfield Vines Jr.; Divincia Majette, granddaughter of the late Evelyn Goodman; and William Goodman Jr., grandson of the late Evelyn Goodman.

Jordan, of Union, N.J., will attend Pratt Institute in New York, majoring in commercial art.

Rodgers, of Clinton, Md., will attend the University of Maryland, Eastern Shore in Princess Anne, Md., majoring in biology/pre-veterinary science.

Majette, of Suffolk, will attend Virginia Union University in Richmond, majoring in criminal justice.

Vines-Brown, of Richmond, will attend Hampton University, majoring in mass communication.

Goodman, of Suffolk, will attend Virginia Wesleyan College in Norfolk, majoring in criminal justice.

A certificate of achievement was also presented to each recipient.
