Ruby E. Carr

Ruby Eure Carr, 81, passed away Aug. 6, 2013, at Sentara Obici Hospital in Suffolk. She was the daughter of the late Lillie and Mannie Eure and was predeceased by her husband of 53 years, Joshua Junior Carr. She is also predeceased by her brothers, Zeb D. Eure and Mannie Cleveland Eure.
A native of Nansemond County, she was a member of Western Branch Baptist Church and was in the Ruth Bible Class. For 38 years, she worked in the quality control department of Birdsong Peanuts. Ruby then spent six years working in the lunchroom at Nansemond-Suffolk Academy.
Ruby is survived by her sons, Donnie J. Carr and wife, Carolyn, of Ahoskie, N.C., and Edward Emory Carr and wife, Debbie, of Suffolk; grandchildren, Annette Carr McLamb and husband, Duffie, Angie Carr Freeman and husband, Earl, Chris Carr and wife, Denia; great-grandchildren, Marcus Carr, Blake Carr, George Freeman, Summer Freeman and Joshua McLamb; her cousin and friend, Millie Baccus.
A funeral service will be held on Friday, Aug. 9, 2013, at 2 p.m. in the R.W. Baker & Co. Funeral Home and Crematory, 509 W. Washington St., Suffolk, by the Rev. Wayne A. Gardner with burial following at Meadowbrook Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Thursday, Aug. 8, 2013, from 7 to 8 p.m. and other times at the home of Emory and Debbie Carr. In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorial donations be made to the Nansemond-Suffolk Volunteer Rescue Squad, P.O. 1515, Suffolk, VA 23439, or to the Western Branch Baptist Church Building Fund, 6952 Old Myrtle Road, Suffolk.
