Frank Kahan Sr.

Frank Kahan Sr., 94, of 312 Duke St., died Friday, Aug. 9, 2013. He was a native of Dunnellon, Fla., and the youngest of 10 children born to the late Marcus and Elizabeth Kahan. He was the last surviving sibling.
He was a veteran of the U.S. Army, serving in C Company, 639th Tank Destroyer Battalion of the 93rd All Negro Division during World War II in Italy. He was a licensed carpenter.
Frank was preceded in death by his wife of 57 years, Sophia Lee Kahan, and his son, Eugene Scott.
He is survived by four sons, Frank Jr. (Gwendolyn), of Accokeek, Md., Vemell (Arthalia Denise), Connell (Karen), of Chesapeake, and Reginald (Cecilia); daughter-in-law, Marie Scott, of Oviedo, Fla.; nine grandchildren, Teri Scott, Rodney Kahan, Antione Clark, Faith Tennyson, Sonia Kahan, Reginald Lamont Kahan, Kendalyn Kahan, Connell āCJā Kahan, and Alonzo Boone; six great-grandchildren; a close friend, Elaine Estes and the Estes family; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
A funeral service will be held Wednesday, Aug. 14, 2013, at 1 p.m. at Mt. Ararat Christian Church, officiated by Dr. Harvey Murrill, pastor. Interment will be in Carver Memorial Cemetery.
The family will receive family and friends at the home of Reginald and Cecilia Kahan, 2045 Meadow Country Road.
