The No. 3 Nansemond River High School boys’ volleyball team saw its season come to a close with a 15-25, 20-25, 23-25 loss to host No. 2 Heritage High School in Wednesday’s conference tournament semifinal.

Warriors head coach James Vann expected his team to rebound after dropping the first game, but he said, “We just couldn’t get up.”

However, he said, “They fought hard the last game.”

Senior Adrian Drew led the team with seven kills, sophomore Josh Tomovik had six and senior Adrian Coleman added five. Junior Zak McCarson contributed seven digs.

It was an up and down season for Nansemond River, which started 0-4, but then went on a seven-game win streak. “I thought we ended well,” Vann said.

The Warriors finished the season at 8-11 overall.
