J. Robert Worrell

HIDDENITE, N.C. — Joseph Robert “Bobby” Worrell, 75, of 638 Lackey Road, died Thursday, Nov. 7, 2013 in his home.

Mr. Worrell was born in Gates County and was the son of the late Walter Raleigh and Euna Belle Speight Worrell. A retired parts manager in the automotive industry, he was a member of Pleasant Grove Baptist Church and had served in the U.S. Marine Corps. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his sister, Ola Mae Rountree, and by brothers, Graham and Carlton Worrell.

Surviving are his wife of nearly 54 years, Betty Lou White Worrell; four daughters, Therese’ Evans and husband, Craig, of Smithfield, Deborah Nunez and husband, Fern, of Suffolk, Linda Willett, of Statesville, and Brenda Gaither, of Hiddenite; a son, Mike Worrell and wife, Donna, of Suffolk; a brother, George Worrell of Virginia Beach; and his 13 grandchildren, Justin, Joshua, Jeremy, Timmy, Christopher, Krystal, Lauren, Tyler, Preston, Garrett, Kayleigh, Alan Michael, and Casey.

A memorial service will be held Sunday at 2 p.m. in Rocky Hock Baptist Church by Dr. James Horton. Friends may join the family in the social hall of the church immediately following the memorial service. Miller Funeral Home and Crematory, 735 Virginia Road, Edenton, is assisting the family with arrangements.
