Stanley Hawk

Stanley Hawk, 62, of1016 Lake Kennedy Drive, Suffolk, died Friday, Dec. 6, 2013, at the University of Pittsburgh Medical Center Presbyterian Hospital in Pittsburgh, Pa. He was a native of Nansemond County and the son of the late Elton Gray “Popcorn” Lewter and Irene “Deucie” Hawk Askew Lewter.

He was a graduate of John F. Kennedy High School, class of 1971. He retired as a marine rigger for the Department of Defense. He was a member of the Tabernacle Christian Church, where he was a member of the Male Usher Board.

He leaves to cherish his memory his wife, Sarah L. Hawk; daughters, Julia Parker (Travis), of Suffolk, Shanta Hawk, of Yorktown, Vernisea Hawk-Gates, of Greenville, N.C., Lynette Hawk, of Portsmouth, LaTeshia Burgess (Sumpter), of Clayton, N.C., Dyesheka Hawk, of Suffolk, and Bathsheba Williams (Joseph), of El Paso, Texas; son, Isaiah Hawk (Monique), of Junction City, Kan.; stepson, Banvoleyo Barnes, of Newport News; stepdaughter, Ginger Squiers (Douglas), of Maryland; 15 grandchildren; seven sisters; six brothers; other relatives and friends.

A funeral will be held at noon, Friday, Dec. 13, 2013, at Tabernacle Christian Church officiated by Bishop Carlton R. Upton Sr. The remains will be placed in the church at 10:30 a.m. on Friday. Interment will be in Carver Memorial Cemetery. Crocker Funeral Home is handling the arrangements. Condolences may be extended to the family at www.crockerfuneralhome.com.
