Peggy L. Martin, 63, of Suffolk, passed away on March 1, 2014, after a brief battle with cancer. She is survived by her brothers, Cecil (Herky) Martin, of Richmond, Richard Martin, of Spring, Texas, and Preston Grammar Jr., of Mt. Pleasant, N.C. Peggy had many nieces, nephews and close friends whom she dearly loved and was loved by in return. Peggy spent many years in the restaurant business. She began her career at Joe’s BBQ, owned by her mother, Audrey Martin McClenny. She later owned and operated Throttle Back Cafe at the Suffolk airport. She also worked in many other restaurants in town. Peggy was a well-known and beloved character around Suffolk and will be greatly missed.
The family will receive friends on Thursday, March 6, 2014, at 1 p.m. at Parr Funeral Home with a memorial service to follow at 2 p.m. Following the service, there will be a celebration of Peggy’s life at 2800 Pittmantown Road, Suffolk.
