Leola Mullen

Leola Mullen, 87, of 804 W. Constance Road, Suffolk, died Wednesday, March 12, 2014, at her residence.
She was a native of Nansemond County and the daughter of Lonnie Boone and Alice Boone. He was preceded in death by her husband, Willie Mullen Sr.; two daughters, Willie Mae Thomas and Alice Wilson; one brother, Willie Mullen Jr.; one sister, Mary Holiday; two brothers, Arthur Boone and Frank Riddick; grandchild, Russell Thomas.
She retired as a domestic worker. She was a faithful member of St. Mark AMEZ Church. She was a member of the Boston/Williamstown Civic League. Leola is known for her sweet potato jacks, chicken pot pie and collard greens.
She leaves to cherish her memory three daughters, Alice Mullen, Geraldine Anderson (Fred) and Carol Joe (John Jr.) all of Suffolk; two brothers, Ronald Mullen, of Greensville, and Terry Mullen, of Philadelphia, Pa.; 15 grandchildren, 21 great-grandchildren and three great-great-grandchildren; sisters, Elizabeth Scott, of Baltimore, Md.; godchild, Joseph Joe; special friends at the Chorey Park Apartments.
A funeral will be held at 2 p.m. Monday, March 17, 2014, at St. Mark AMEZ Church. Interment will be in Carver Memorial Cemetery. The family will receive friends at 270 Burnetts Way, Suffolk.
