A Suffolk man was arrested in a Portsmouth Police Department investigation of the Gangster Disciples criminal street gang, according to a press release from the police department.
Jason T. Whitlow, 21, of the 400 block of North Main Street, was charged with four felony counts of possession of a controlled substance and one felony count of possession with the intent to distribute marijuana. He was among 26 alleged street-level dealers arrested after a grand jury handed down indictments on March 6.
The department’s Gang Suppression Unit conducted the investigation and made the arrests with the assistance of the Special Investigations Unit, SWAT team members and patrol officers. During the arrests, police recovered more than 11 pounds of marijuana, as well as large amounts of heroin, cocaine, hallucinogens and prescription drugs and several firearms.
The rest of the defendants are from Portsmouth.
