The sixth annual Shake, Rattle & Roll Spring Car Show is rolling back into downtown Suffolk this Saturday, with 200 classic automobiles competing in the car show and other fun along the way.
From 8 a.m. to 3 p.m., the event will take place along North Main Street from Washington Street to Finney Avenue. It pays tribute to the racers, records and fans of the quarter-mile concrete track that formerly operated at the Suffolk Airport.
Free and open to the public, the car show will highlight pre-1975 vehicles. Other activities will include Suffolk Raceway memorabilia on display, live music by Hey! Hey! Hooligan, hula-hoop contests and more.
The first 200 car show participants will receive a dash plaque, goodie bag and commemorative glass. New this year, show cars must register at the Seaboard Station Railroad Museum parking area before proceeding down Main Street. The fee per vehicle is $25, and a variety of awards will be presented at 2 p.m.
Parking will be available in public lots in the downtown area.
