Sharon D. Hollins, 48, of 2593 Jackson Road, Suffolk, died Sunday, May 11, 2014, at her residence. She was a native of Northampton County, N.C., and the daughter of Fannie M. Vaughan and the late Willie Rawls Vaughan.

She was a graduate of I.C. Norcom High School and received a bachelor’s degree from James Madison University and Old Dominion University, a master’s degree from George Washington University and completed the Newport News Apprentice School, where she received the State of Virginia Apprenticeship Journeyman Card as a Marine Designer with honors. She was employed as a risk manager at Huntington Ingalls (Newport News Shipyard). She was a member of Jack and Jill of America, Society of Women’s Engineering and National Society of Black Engineering. She was a member of Ebenezer Baptist Church.

She leaves to cherish her memory her husband, Randell Glenn Hollins; three sons, Randy Glenn Hollins, Jordan Glenn Hollins, and Jalen Glenn Hollins; three stepsons, Damion Johnson, Randell Glenn Hollins Jr., and Ryan Hollins; one sister, Evangeline Edwards; nieces, Sharon D. Edwards, Karen L. Edwards and Erin Edwards; other relatives and friends.

A funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Friday, May 16, 2014, at Ebenezer Baptist Church, Portsmouth, officiated by the Rev. LeRoy Hill Jr. Visitation with family and friends will be held Thursday, May 15, 2014, from 6 to 8 p.m. at Crocker Funeral Home. Condolences maybe extended to the family at www.crockerfuneralhome.com.
