A Suffolk teenager has been charged with aggravated sexual battery and production of child pornography after allegedly intimidating a 13-year-old girl into performing an act of oral sex.
The girl reported to school officials that the boy, also 13, threatened to distribute nude photos of herself she had sent with her phone if she didn’t perform oral sex on him, according to a search warrant filed in Suffolk Circuit Court. The girl told officials on April 10 that the act had occurred on the school bus.
The charges have been filed in Juvenile and Domestic Relations Court.
According to the search warrant, there “may be as many as five other juvenile female victims who have been forced into sexual acts through intimidation or threats made by (the student).”
City spokeswoman Diana Klink declined to comment on the case, because it is still under investigation.
School division spokeswoman Bethanne Bradshaw said administrators at the school promptly started an investigation and notified police upon receiving the report.
The boy was immediately suspended from school and recommended for expulsion. After an expulsion hearing with the Pupil Personnel Committee — composed of three School Board members and held behind closed doors — the student was assigned to the division’s alternative education program housed at Turlington Woods School for the remainder of the school year. The case will be re-evaluated by the committee in August, Bradshaw said.
“Historically, many students recommended for expulsion based on the Code of Conduct are offered placement in an alternative program,” she said.
