Brenda Jones Boone, age 70, a retired surgical technician of Virginia Beach Ambulatory Surgery Center (VBASC), passed away on June 14, 2014, at her home in Suffolk.

Brenda was born March 27, 1944, in Suffolk, to the late Allen W. Jones and Virtley Ballard Jones. She was predeceased by her brother, Allen B. “Butch” Jones.

After retirement, Brenda was employed by Comfort Keepers Home Health Care Services as a home health aide. She was an active, lifelong member of St. Paul Baptist Church of Suffolk, where she served as a member of several choirs, the M.P. Mitchell Usher Ministry, and the Drama Ministry.

She is survived by her son, Robert Scarborough, of Van Nuys, Calif., and daughter-in-law, Carol; her daughter, Roslyn Collins, of Suffolk, and son-in-law Ricky; her sisters, Nancy L. Jones, of Suffolk, Audrey C. Backus, of Williamsburg, Ruth A. Deloatch, of Suffolk, Juanita D. Adams, of Washington, D.C., and Judith J. Shoulders, of Suffolk; five grandchildren and four great-grandchildren; 27 nieces and nephews, grand-nieces and -nephews, and a host of other relatives and friends.

The wake service is scheduled for Thursday, June 19, 2014, at 7 p.m. Homegoing services will be held on Saturday, June 21, 2014, at 11 a.m. at St. Paul Baptist Church, 806 Lincoln Ave., Suffolk, VA 23434 in the Boston area.

An additional memorial service will be held at a later date, also at St. Paul Baptist Church.
