Larry and Stephanie Powell of Suffolk announce the graduation of their son, Valdez Avegas Powell, on May 10 from Virginia Commonwealth University in Richmond.

Valdez graduated with a grade point average of 3.9, receiving a master’s degree in accounting. Valdez focused on networking and building professional relationships while continuing his coursework and landed an internship with PricewaterhouseCoopers, an international accounting firm. Upon completing the internship, he accepted a full-time position with the firm as a risk assurance associate, assisting clients in improving information technology performance, analytical reporting and business intelligence.
