St. Mary sets ‘Movie Nights’

St. Mary Catholic Church in Suffolk will once again host summer “Movie Nights,” complete with popcorn and popsicles.
Father Kenneth Wood, pastor, said the evenings are open to everyone — Catholics, other Christians and those still looking. “You can even bring your children, and we will supply babysitting,” he added.
The “Movie Nights” will present three new episodes of the 10-part award-winning series “Catholicism” — a multi-media documentary originally broadcast on many Public Television stations across the country.
Produced by filmmaker Mike Leonard of NBC’s Today show, the series took two years to produce, and is filmed in high-definition cinematography, spanning more than 50 locations in 15 countries.
According to St. Mary parishioner Amanda Moegenberg, the point of the movie evenings is “to have fun, celebrate our shared belief in Christ, and answer any questions people might have about St. Mary Church and the Catholic faith.”
The three sessions will be held on the middle three Thursdays in July, beginning at 6:30 pm in St. Mary’s Parish Social Hall on Smith Street (behind the church, which is located at 200 South Broad St.). The dates are July 10, 17 and 24.
