Eley picked for Harvard program

Ernest Eley, Jr, a native of Suffolk and son of Annie and the late Ernest Eley, has been accepted into Harvard University’s Kennedy School of Government Senior Executive Program, which runs July 7-25.
Eley serves as the director of community supervision (parole and probation) in the Headquarters Unit of the Maryland Department of Public Safety and Correctional Services.
Prior to his current appointment, Eley served as executive deputy director of the Maryland Division of Parole and Probation, with management responsibilities for all 44 parole and probation offices in Maryland.
He has served as a consultant to the U. S. Justice Department in five states on parole and probation issues. He has written extensively on parole/probation matters and has been published in professional and scholarly periodicals.
In 2004, Eley was appointed by Maryland Gov. Robert Erhlich and confirmed by the Maryland Senate to a four-year term on the Health and Human Services Board.
He is also the chairman of the Board of Trustees at Providence Baptist Church in Baltimore.
