Harris Music Productions plans its second annual jazz program, “A Galaxy of Jazz,” on Aug. 2 at King’s Fork Middle School.
The four acts include Hampton native Will “MoBetta” Ledbetter, a jazz guitarist. Also featured are Vinnie Knight, Connie Parker and the Now and Then Trio.
The Now and Then Trio features members Robert Ransom, James Hoopes and Eddie Edwards. They had a nine-year stint playing at the Williamsburg Inn and also have traveled to South America to perform. Their music includes a wide spectrum of styles.
Connie Parker is known as “Lovely Lady C.” Her sounds range from progressive jazz, rhythm and blues and pop. She has opened for greats such as Count Basie, Stanley Turrentine and others.
Vinnie Knight has recorded, performed and collaborated with the best musicians of the jazz world. A Harlem native who now lives in Hampton Roads, she has recorded Duke Ellington songs and performed in Europe and Africa as well as on cruise lines.
The event organizer, Vanessa Harris, says proceeds will be given to the East Suffolk High School Alumni scholarship fund.
The show starts at 7 p.m., and tickets are $20. For more information, call 237-3180 or 539-6500.
