Man dies in head-on collision

A 60-year-old man died Saturday following a head-on collision on Godwin Boulevard.

The victim has been identified as Danny Clay Tackett, 60, of Seaford.

The crash happened at 1:48 p.m. at the intersection with Everets Road. Tackett, a motorcyclist, collided with a GMC truck. He was riding with a group of other motorcyclists when the accident occurred, according to a news release from the city. He was airlifted to Sentara Norfolk General Hospital.

The driver of the SUV was not injured, according to the release.

The cause of the accident remains under investigation.

Both directions of Godwin Boulevard were closed for about 45 minutes after the accident.

Suffolk Fire and Rescue was assisted at the scene by the Chuckatuck Volunteer Fire Department.
