A little bit of country and a little bit of rock and roll will grace the stage at the 37th annual Suffolk Peanut Festival this October.

National recording artist Colt Ford is set to play on Saturday, Oct. 11. His blend of country music and hip-hop rhythms has produced more than 100 million YouTube views, more than one million albums sold and several million downloads. He also has written No. 1 hits for Jason Aldean and Brantley Gilbert and currently is collaborating with Brad Paisley. For more information about Ford, check out the f.y.i. special section in today’s newspaper.

Opening for Ford will be the Cody Austin Band, an up-and-coming, high-energy country group.

On the Friday of Peanut Fest, Oct. 10, Joint Therapy, a regional cover band that does everything from Lynyrd Skynyrd to Kenny Chesney, will be followed by The Holiday Band, a North Carolina-based party and dance band.

On Sunday, three separate performances will give music lovers a reason to come back after Friday and Saturday. First up is Luke Willette and the Show Me Band, a local group that performs a blend of gospel and country.

Next to hit the stage will be country music’s Darryl Worley, whose career has produced nearly 20 hit singles, including three No. 1 songs.

Finally, Parmalee will close out the festival with its country-rock sound. The group recently made history when its multi-week No. 1 single, “Carolina,” became the longest-climbing single by a duo or group in the 24-year history of the Billboard Country Airplay Chart.

Parmalee also is the first multi-member country act to garner a No. 1 single on both the Billboard Country Airplay and Mediabase/Country Aircheck charts since Florida Georgia Line.

Peanut Fest takes place Oct. 9-12 and includes plenty of off-the-stage entertainment as well, including a carnival, fireworks, a demolition derby, peanut butter sculpting contest, camel rides, arts and crafts and more.

General admission is free — including the concerts — and parking is $10 per vehicle, per day. Four-day passes are $20 and available for purchase at the Suffolk Visitor Center, 524 N. Main St., and the Holiday Food Store, 715 N. Main St.
