New stoplight to become operational

A new stoplight at the intersection of Holland and Pioneer roads will become fully operational on Aug. 25, more than a week before the first day of school at nearby Pioneer Elementary School.
The stoplight was installed because of the new school located at the intersection.
The signal will start operating at 9:30 a.m. that day, according to a city news release.
Message boards will be employed to alert motorists of the new signal. The boards will be in place Aug. 20 announcing the start date and time. Their message will change at the same time the stoplight is turned on, and they will remain in place through Sept. 8.
