The angels ushered Ethel “Edith” West, 84, of 222 Raleigh Ave., into her heavenly home on Aug. 20, 2014. She was the daughter of the late Noah and Mary Joyner Howell and the wife of the late Henry Martel West.

Edith was a lifelong member of Tabernacle Christian Church, where she served as a deacon/deaconess and usher.

She leaves to cherish her memory three children, Betty Twitty (Levin), Linda Diane West and Donald Howell (Janice); four grandchildren, Donald Howell Jr., Scott Howell, Levin Twitty II and Michaela Twitty; two great-grandchildren; two sisters-in-law, Helen and Mabel Howell; and a host of nieces, nephews and numerous friends and caregivers.

A homegoing service will be held at Tabernacle Christian Church on Saturday, Aug. 23, 2014, at noon by Bishop Carlton Upton Sr. Interment will be in Pleasant Hill Cemetery. Visitation with the family will be from 6 to 8 p.m. Friday at Tabernacle Christian Church. Crocker Funeral Home is handling the arrangements.
