The southbound side of the bridge is closed because of standing water, according to a VDOT spokeswoman. That traffic is being diverted to one lane of the northbound side of the bridge.

At 9 a.m., traffic was backed up about three miles, the spokeswoman said.

The following roads in Suffolk have high water but are passable, according to a city spokeswoman:

  • Mineral Spring Road
  • Greenway Road
  • Everets Road and Moore Farm Lane
  • Godwin Boulevard in the 5400 block
  • Crittenden Road in the 6000 block
