Tonya Lynette Lewis, 53, of 198 S. Main St., Suffolk, died Wednesday, Sept. 10, 2014, at Sentara Norfolk General Hospital. She was a native of Suffolk and the daughter of Barbara Mae Wall and the late James Tyler Almond.

She was a graduate of John F. Kennedy High School and received two associate degrees in administration of justice and police science from Paul D. Camp Community College. She was a member of WTRJ Honor Guard. Tonya medically retired from the Western Tidewater Regional Jail after 18 years. She was a member of East End Baptist Church and the PHA Order of the Eastern Star.

She leaves to cherish her memory her husband, James Kelly Lewis Sr.; sons, Tyree Lewis, of Portsmouth, James Lewis Jr. (Paulette), of Columbia, Md., Dominique Lewis, of Suffolk, and stepson, Jamal Dargan, of Philadelphia, Pa.; godson, Antonio Major Jr.; other relatives and many friends.

A funeral will be held at 1 p.m. Tuesday, Sept. 16, 2014, at East End Baptist Church. Interment will be in Albert G. Horton Jr. Memorial Veterans Cemetery. Crocker Funeral Home is handling the arrangements. Condolences maybe extended to the family at www.crockefuneralhome.com.
