The BelkGives on the Go mobile mammography center, a 39-foot-long, state-of-the-art screening center on wheels, will set up at the Belk store in Suffolk on Oct. 2 to offer free mammogram screenings.

Women 40 and older with no breast concerns who have not had a mammogram in the past 12 months and have a primary care physician are eligible to schedule appointments.

After their mammograms, women can also visit the intimate apparel section in the Belk store to receive complimentary bra fittings.

All screening exams will be performed by licensed female mammography-certified technologists from Charlotte Radiology. A board-certified radiologist specializing in breast imaging will interpret the mammograms, and results will be sent to the patients and their primary care physicians.

Appointments will be set between 9:30 a.m. and 7 p.m., and may be made by calling 855-655-2662.

The company began its partnership with Charlotte Radiology in 2013. In its first year, the mobile unit performed more than 4,500 mammograms throughout the Southeast, resulting in 14 cancer diagnoses.
