Ned “Pete” Hicks, son of the late Whitmon and Edna Hicks, was born Sept. 4, 1949, in Suffolk. He departed this life on Tuesday, Sept. 30, 2014. He was predeceased by his father and mother, and two sisters, Ellizabeth Hicks and Pearline Haskett.

He was a former member of Little Mt. Zion Baptist Church under the pastorate of the Rev. Freeman.

Remaining to cherish his fond memory include his wife, Yvette Hicks; one brother, Whitmon Hicks Jr. (Shirley), of Portsmouth; three sisters, Naomi Green (Woodrow), Deborah Worrell and Betty Wyatt (Henry), all of Suffolk; two aunts, Ellen Gary (Floyd), of Suffolk, and Thesseal Mae Liggins (Joseph), of Windsor; one uncle, Floyd Copeland (Mary), of Windsor; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

A funeral service will be held at noon Monday, Oct. 6, 2014, at Oak Grove Baptist Church officiated by Dr. Anthony Copeland. Interment will be in Little Mt. Zion Baptist Church Cemetery.
