The Nansemond-Suffolk Academy girls’ volleyball team defeated host Peninsula Catholic High School 25-13, 25-20, 25-19.
Livi Bono and Lizzy Fowler had nine kills apiece to lead the Lady Saints offense. Logan Harrell led the defense with 22 digs, and Brooks Gillerlain had 30 assists.
When Nansemond-Suffolk (12-7, 4-0) hosts Norfolk Christian High School on Thursday evening, the Lady Saints will participate in Breast Cancer Awareness Month with various activities.
Some of the girls will cut their hair right after warmups and donate it. The team is also raising money in the effort to find a cure to breast cancer by selling baked goods, and it will wear pink jerseys to raise awareness.
The NSA breast cancer club, for which Gillerlain is the vice president, will make a short speech.
