Don’t blame Forbes for USPS problems

To the editor:

I do not mind when people disagree with what I believe. It helps me see the other side and understand what I really believe.

What bothers me is when one offering a differing opinion links that to every other wrong that is not relevant to the issue.

Rep. J. Randy Forbes is an honorable man. He has done so many wonderful things for the military and other people. He is a man with a heart of concern.

If the writer of a recent letter to the editor (“Forbes’ policies created postal crisis,” Oct. 12, 2014) disagrees with one of the congressman’s actions, that is the person’s right. But to link other unrelated matters seems to me to be demeaning and unfair.

Randy Forbes does not bear responsibility for the actions of the United States Postal Service and he should not be blamed for the USPS problems.

Until we recognize the need to change and cut some costs to stop some of our indebtedness, I fear for my family — children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren — and what they will face in the coming years.
