Fishing tourney participants get big hauls

There were eight boats with 15 anglers fishing on Sunday in the Suffolk Singles Doubles Tournament, which took place this time at Lake Meade.
Cory Hamilton and Jason Sawyer of Chesapeake took first, catching five bass that weighed in at 12.14 pounds. They also caught the biggest fish, which was 4.08 pounds.
James Williams of Hampton and Nate Hollis of Yorktown took second place, with their five bass weighing in at 11.38 pounds.
There was a two-way tie for third. Josh Clark of Chesapeake and the team of Suffolk’s David Holland and Mike Rust each caught five bass weighing a total of 9.74 pounds.
