Katherine Marie Garvin, 51, affectionately known as “Gail,” went home to be with her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on Tuesday, Oct. 21, 2014. She was born on July 19, 1963, to Lillian Cooper and the late James Garvin in Suffolk.

She was a graduate of Suffolk High School.

Katherine is survived by her mother, Lillian Cooper; five children, Travis Garvin Sr. (Monica), Deon Garvin, Martrelle Garvin Sr. (Natasha), Tiffany Jones (Shelley), and Delveaontae Garvin; 10 grandchildren, Shamylia Murphy, Travis Garvin Jr., Quatrell Waddler, Devontrell Garvin, Asia Darden, Makayla Garvin, Martrelle Garvin Jr., Shilecia Jones, Zy’trell Garvin and Cam’Ron Jones; three sisters, Regina Riddick, Judy Garvin and Jasmine Garvin; seven brothers, Robert Cooper, William Cooper, Jamal Garvin, James Garvin Jr., James Lee Garvin, John Holmes and Curtis Johnson; and a host of aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins, family and friends.

Ms. Garvin will be on view Sunday from 11 a.m. to 7 p.m., and the family will receive guests from 4 to 7 p.m. at the funeral home. A celebration of life service will take place at noon on Monday at New Mt. Joy Food For Living Ministries Church, and she will be laid to rest in the T.E. Cooke-Overton Garden of Carver Memorial Cemetery.
