Mrs. Dorothy Destin-Smith, of Brentwood Road, Suffolk, departed this life to claim her eternal rest and peace on March 5, 2015, while a patient in Sentara Obici Hospital.

The Suffolk native was born on March 14, 1943, to Louise Lawrence Vines and the late Reverend Willie L. Vines. She was a member of Mount Sinai Baptist Church. Dorothy was employed with Comfort Keepers as a certified nursing assistant and retired in 2012. She completed business school in Jersey City, N.J.

Dorothy is survived by two sons, George L. Destin and Antoine Destin; her mother, Louise L. Vines; grandchildren, George Destin Jr., Christopher Destine, Jalen Destin and Caleb Destin; daughters-in-law, Nicole Destin and Stacie Destin; and many other relatives.

A homegoing service will be held on Thursday, March 12, 2015, at 1 p.m. at Mount Sinai Baptist Church, 6100 Holy Neck Road, Suffolk, with the pastor, the Rev. William Lang, delivering the eulogy. The committal and benediction will be in the church cemetery. On the day of service, her remains will rest in church for viewing by 11 a.m. On Wednesday, the family will receive friends at the funeral home from 7 to 9 p.m. A traditional service with dignity will be conducted by Wm.
