Jackie Lee Harper, 71, passed away on Friday, March 20, 2015. She was born on March 11, 1944, to the late Jack Harper and Ethel Mae Ricks-Harper in Suffolk. She was also preceded in death by her brother, Howard Harper, and sister, Emma Lee Harper.

Jackie attended Windsor Public Schools. She was employed by Virginia Canvas Products Inc. as head seamstress and canvas awning fabricator at the time of her death. She previously worked at Martin’s Canvas and Brown and Jordan for approximately 25 years.

She attended Canaan Baptist Church.

Jackie leaves behind to cherish her memory and celebrate her life, her daughters, Brenda Harper and Tyra Harper; son, James Brown Jr.; brothers, Jack Harper, Leslie Harper, Delmond Harper, Herman Harper, Joe Harper (Ann) and Marvin Harper (Marie); sisters, Claudia Williams and Ester Mae Hawks; a host of grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

Ms. Harper will be on view Friday, and the family will receive guests from 5 to 7 p.m. at the funeral home. A celebration of life service will take place at noon on Saturday at New Jerusalem/Apostolic Ministry, 418 E. Pinner St., and she will be laid to rest in the T.E. Cooke-Overton Garden of Carver Memorial Cemetery.
