Florence Elizabeth Lawrence, 90, of 309 Ben St., Suffolk, died Sunday, March 29, 2015, at Nansemond Pointe Rehabilitation and Healthcare Center. She was a native of Suffolk and the daughter of the late Henry Anderson and Octavia Anderson.

She formerly was employed as a basket maker at the Butterdish and retired as a sales clerk at Leggett’s Department Store. Mrs. Lawrence was the current longest living member of East End Baptist Church and a former member of the choir.

She leaves to cherish her memory her husband, Tommie Lawrence Sr.; one son, Tommie Lawrence Jr. (Delores), of Lanham, Md.; four sisters, Loretta Burgess, of Mount Rainier, Md., Octavia Ruffin, of Suffolk, Marion Wilson (David), of Great Falls, and Ora Artis, of Cleveland, Ohio; two grandchildren and six great-grandchildren; sisters-in-law, Blanch Bess, Bertha Crocker, of Suffolk, Irene Lawrence, of Portsmouth, and Dolores Anderson, of Cleveland, Ohio; other relatives and friends.

A funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday, April 7, 2015, at East End Baptist Church. Interment will be in Poplar Run Church Cemetery. Condolences may be extended to the family at www.crockerfuneralhome.com.
