Otelia Simms, 91, of 1304 Shelton Court, Suffolk, died Sunday, April 5, 2015, at her residence. She was a native of Southampton County and the daughter of the late Ernest Evans and Mattie Evans. She was preceded in death by her husband, Wilbert Simms Sr.; sons, Ernest Simms, James T. Simms and Wilbert P. Simms Jr.

She leaves to cherish her memory two sons, Willie R. Simms, of Portsmouth, and Ivan L. Simms Sr., of Suffolk; 13 grandchildren and 24 great-grandchildren; nephews, Robert Hines, Douglas Hines, Dennis Hines, Otis Boone and Charlie Evans; devoted cousin, Dorothy Hawkins; several other cousins; devoted caretaker, Tiffany Copeland; other relatives and friends.

A funeral service will be held at 1 p.m. Thursday, April 9, 2015, in the chapel of Crocker Funeral Home officiated by Suffragan Bishop Madison Copeland. Interment will be in Pleasant Hill Cemetery. Condolences may be extended to the family at www.crockerfuneralhome.com.
