Keep eye on Ana

Keep an eye on the weather, and enjoy the weekend.

That’s the message from the National Weather Service’s Wakefield office about the effects of a subtropical storm, named Ana, developing off the Carolinas.

“We’re looking at increasing rain chances, especially over the next four days,” meteorologist Mike Montefusco said.

Saturday in Suffolk will see occasional showers, which will become more widespread on Sunday and even more so on Monday. Still, the weekend should be dry more often than not, Montefusco said, so don’t cancel your plans.

“It will move on up in our direction on Monday,” Montefusco said. “That moves on out by the time we get into Tuesday and Tuesday evening.”

The next few days will see highs in the 70s, decreasing as the storm gets closer.

“It will be kind of cool and muggy on Monday, in the mid to upper 70s,” Montefusco said.

Winds will be “not really be all that impressive,” he added. “The higher winds will be offshore. Anyone with interests offshore will have to keep an eye on this system.”
