Possible meth lab evidence found

Suffolk police are investigating what they believe to be evidence of a portable methamphetamine producing lab, according to a city press release.

The evidence was found in a public trash can at a car wash station at the Harbour Breeze Apartments, located in North Suffolk near Interstate 664. A call to Emergency Communications was placed at 9:19 a.m. about the two suspicious bottles.

Suffolk Fire and Rescue, the Fire Marshal and the Virginia State Police Hazmat Team responded and removed the bottles. No evacuations were needed.

Police and the Fire Marshal’s Office are reminding the public not to handle suspicious packages or items and to call 911 immediately if they find any.

There are no suspects, according to the press release. Anyone who has information is asked to call Crime Line at 1-888-LOCK-U-UP or text the keyword SPDVATIP and the tip to 274637 (CRIMES). Tipsters never have to give their names or appear in court, and may be eligible for a reward of up to $1,000.
