Suffolk firefighters were unable to save a garage that caught fire in the early hours of Saturday morning in the 500 block of Kings Fork Road.

Emergency dispatchers were notified of the fire at 4:25 a.m., and firefighters arrived on the scene at 4:30 a.m. to find a large detached garage had been destroyed by fire, according to a press release from Suffolk spokeswoman Diana Klink. There were no injuries.

Klink stated that the damage is estimated to have amounted to $50,000. No residents were displaced by the fire.

The cause of the fire is unknown, Klink stated, and the Fire Marshal’s office is handling the investigation.
