Bobby S. Keen peacefully left his earthly home surrounded by his family on Sunday, Aug. 9, 2015. Bobby was born on Dec. 22, 1936, in Wayne County, N.C., to the late Lloyd and Clara Belle Keen. He was the best Dad to his daughter, Karen Keen Austin, and son-in-law, Tommy, number one Papa to his GRANDdaughters, Lindsay Westbrook and Bobbie Lee Austin, Stephanie Lee Ritter, great-granddaughter, Lela Brooke Ritter; special nephew, Hunter N. Davis, who was truly blessed to have an “Uncle Bob,” sister, Barbara Keen Graham, brother Lloyd Keen Jr., sisters-in-law, Alice Maxwell and Ersel Keen, niece, Gail Fleischfresser, other nieces and nephews, his “adopted children,” and his four legged companion, “Bruzy.”
Bobby was predeceased by his wife of 49 years, Joyce Westbrook Keen, his daughter Denise Keen Jurnigan, and his brother D.R. Keen.
Bobby was a general contractor until his retirement. Daddy worked hard and he played hard. He loved to hunt and fish, spending time outdoors with those who shared his passion.
At Daddy’s request, there will not be a funeral, but a gathering to share memories and good times with the family on Wednesday, Aug. 12, 2015, at R.W. Baker & Co. Funeral Home and Crematory, 509 W. Washington St., Suffolk, from 7 to 8:30 p.m. A graveside service will be held at Eureka Christian Church, Mount Olive, N.C., at a future date. Condolences may be registered online at www.RWBakerFH.com.
In lieu of flowers, take a kid fishing or hunting and share a story about Bobby Keen, a wonderful man who loved God’s gifts of nature, had a heart of gold and was a super hero to all knew him.
