Lillian White Riddick

Lillian White Riddick went to be with her Lord and Savior on Aug. 21, 2015. She was the daughter of the late Herbert Lee White and Bertha Bunch White, of Edenton, N.C. She was married to the love of her life, the late Joseph Robert Riddick, for 36 years.

She is survived by her children, Larry Riddick and wife, Mary Anne, of Suffolk; Michael Riddick, of Kitty Hawk, N.C.; Joseph Riddick and his partner, John Barden, of Augusta, Maine; Charles Riddick and wife, Stephanie, of Castalia, N.C.; Paula Webb and husband, Bill, of Suffolk; and Julie Riddick, of Richmond; grandchildren, Christy Riddick, Joe Riddick and wife, Kasey, Michael Riddick Jr. and wife, Mary Adelaide, Anna Winslow and husband, Dale, Jason Riddick, Joseph Riddick and wife, Mary, Patrick Riddick and Parker Riddick, and Lee Mathias; great-grandchildren, Joseph, Lilly Grace, Nathan and Hadley Riddick, Julie Bell and Frances Riddick, Dale and Avery Winslow, Kaitland and Robbie Riddick. She is also survived by her brother, the Rev. Raymond White and his wife, Sandra, of Gastonia, N.C.

Her entire life was dedicated to her Christian faith, family and to helping others. She was completely devoted and supportive of her family and created a loving and happy environment. She was involved in various church and community activities, where she held many leadership roles. She was an active partner in her husband’s construction business. After her children grew up, she opened the Red Barn Gift Shop in Nags Head and ran it for 15 years. After her husband’s death in 1983, she went to school and became a nurse. She twice went to Uganda, Africa as a missionary for the church, spending five years helping the local people. A school was established in Uganda in her honor and is named The Riddick Mission School. She will be greatly missed by her children, her family and all who knew her.

A celebration of life service will be held Monday, Aug. 24, 2015, at 11 a.m. at West End Baptist Church with the Rev. Dr. Bob Pipkin officiating. Burial will be private at Holly Lawn Cemetery. Friends may join the family for a time of visitation, Sunday from 4 to 5 p.m. at Parr Funeral Home & Crematory and other times at the residence of Larry and Mary Anne Riddick.
