Lewis “Randolph” Duke, 80, passed away Oct. 28, 2015. He was born in Suffolk to the late Nelson and Lillian Duke. Randolph was a Scoutmaster for Troop 11 Boy Scouts for many years and was an honorary member of the Nansemond Suffolk Rescue Squad. Fishing was his passion, and Randolph was the kind of man who would give the shirt off his back to anyone that needed it. In addition to his parents, he is also predeceased by a brother, Vernon Duke; sisters, Margaret Crumpler and Joyce Griggs; and grandson, Christopher Fitzwater.
Left to cherish his memory is daughter, Debbie Spratley, of Suffolk; son, Isaac “Randy” Duke (Marie), of Springfield; brother, Perry Duke (Lynn), of Suffolk; grandsons, Gilbert (Christy), Jason, Cory; granddaughters, Elizabeth (Tommy), Miranda; granddaughter-in-law Crystal (Seth); six great-grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.
A graveside service will be held Friday, Oct. 30, 2015, at 11 a.m. at Holly Lawn Cemetery 1525 N. Main St., Suffolk, with the Rev. T. Floyd Irby officiating. The family will receive friends Thursday, Oct. 29, 2015, at R.W. Baker & Co. Funeral Home & Crematory, 509 W. Washington St., Suffolk, from 6 to 8 p.m. The family will also receive friends at the home of Gilbert and Christy. Condolences may be offered at www.RWBakerFH.com.
