James Nolan Annas Sr.

KERNERSVILLE, N.C. — James Nolan Annas Sr., 80, passed away Wednesday, Nov. 11, 2015, at Moses H. Cone Memorial Hospital. He was born March 4, 1935, in Suffolk to the late Vonoe and Emily Hood Annas. James was a U.S. Air Force Veteran, having served with high honors, and toured as a member of the Air Force Band. He worked for the Office of Special Investigations. He retired from the military and worked for the Defense Logistics Department of the New Cumberland Army Depot. Upon his second retirement, he enjoyed driving a bus for autistic children. James was a member of the Leonardwood Lodge at Clark Air Force Base in the Philippines, where he served as Lodge Master and served in the Grand Lodge.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his grandson, Ben Annas, and a brother, Barney Annas. Surviving are his beloved wife, Elsie Walker Annas; five children, Sandra Yvonne Primrose, James Nolan Annas Jr., Antoinette Myers, George Vonoe Annas and Pamela Charlene Kotesky; eight grandchildren, Misty, Amber, Nathan, Daniel, Samantha, Brianna, Amanda and Nicholas; eight great-grandchildren, Jazyme, J.J., Chelsea, Braden, Lahna, Avery, Brooklyn and Troy; two brothers, Jack and Pat Annas; and one sister, Linda James.
A memorial service will be conducted at 2 p.m. Sunday, Nov. 15, 2015, at Hayworth Miller Kernersville Chapel with the Rev. Thomas Hussey officiating. The family will receive friends from 12:30 to 1:30 p.m. Sunday prior to the service at the funeral home.
