Pearl Vernon Adams, 86, passed away Saturday, Nov. 28, 2015, at Golden Living Center in Portsmouth.

She was a native of Sussex and the daughter of Richard Sr. and Matildie Brock.

She was preceded in death by her husband, George W. Adams Sr.; her son, Roy L. Adams; four sisters, Lorena Ricks, Sara Jones, Cornelia Hunter and Lena Herndon; four brothers, Richard Brock Jr., Alvin Brock, Elijah Brock and Berman Brock.

She retired from Planters/Kraft Foods. She was a member of St. Mark A.M.E. Zion Church, where she was a member of the Senior Choir and Deaconess board. Pearl was also a member of the Williamstown-Boston Civic League and Local 26 United Workers Union.

She leaves to cherish her memory one son, George W. Adams Jr. (Connell) of Portsmouth; a stepson, Jessie L. Harris-Adams (Linda) of Atlanta, Ga.; a sister, Sallie Person (Arthur) of Suffolk; five grandchildren, Alfred Adams (Lisa) of Norfolk, Maritza Adams of Suffolk, Devita Adams-Perry (Anthony) of Chesapeake, Chantaye Adams of Baltimore, Md., and Chasity Adams of Northern Virginia; nine great grandchildren, Paris, Christian, D’Kiyah, Asiah, Shania, Kierra, Amari, Tamisha, Anthonay and Lauren (great- great grandchild); daughter-in-law, Gwendolyn S. Adams of Suffolk; two godchildren, Gloria Young (Reginald) and Alton Harris (Shiquita) of Suffolk; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

A funeral will be held at noon on Dec. 5 at St. Mark A.M.E. Zion church, officiated by the Rev. James McMillian. Interment will be in Oaklawn Cemetery. Visitation with the family will be Friday from 6 to 7 p.m. at Crocker Funeral Home and other times at 29 Kennedy Drive, Portsmouth.
