Firefighters work to extricate a man from his vehicle after a Gardner Lane crash Thursday morning.

A man was airlifted after his vehicle rolled multiple times in a Thursday morning crash.

The crash in the 4900 block of Gardner Lane was reported at 6:16 a.m, according to a city press release. Upon preliminary investigation, police found the Chevrolet Suburban had left the roadway and rolled multiple times due to speed, the release stated.

The driver was the only occupant, according to the release. He was extricated by Suffolk Fire & Rescue personnel before being airlifted to Sentara Norfolk General Hospital with injuries not considered life-threatening, according to the release.

The cause of the accident is under investigation.
