Windsor High School was on lockdown for about an hour Thursday for a planned, unannounced canine drug scan, according to an Isle of Wight County Schools press release.
The scan occurred in the building as well as the parking lot, according to the press release.
Law enforcement found one vehicle with “suspicious material” that they are investigating further, said Lynn Briggs, spokeswoman for Isle of Wight County Schools. The incident is being handled as a student disciplinary matter, she added.
“Events such as this help to ensure parents, students and the community that maintaining safe schools and an effective, well-disciplined learning environment is a priority for Isle of Wight County Schools,” the press release stated.
