Anntionita Phillips-Hyman

Anntionita “Nita” Phillips-Hyman, 62, was born Feb. 15, 1953, to the late Vera M. and William H. Phillips. She was preceded in death by her brother, Herbert Lee Wynn.
She was a graduate of John F. Kennedy High School, class of 1971. She also attended Norfolk State University and Silver Springs Business in Maryland. “Nita” was a member of Metropolitan Baptist Church, where she served in the Mass Choir, YAMS, Youth Ministry and Praise Dance. She was employed with Suffolk Public Schools and Metropolitan Daycare Center. On Sunday, Dec. 27, 2015, while in Beacon Shore Rehab Center “Nita” transitioned to her heavenly home.
She leaves to cherish her memory her husband, William Hyman of Virginia Beach; son, Reshawn L. Phillips, of Suffolk; four sisters, Valerie Phillips, of Mt. Rainer, Md., Una Phillips, of Suffolk, Sharyl Baskfield (Carrol) and Joyce Phillips, both of Richmond; grandchild, Javeon Ensley; mother-in-law, Thelma Hyman Woodson; a host of brothers-in-law, sisters-in-law, nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
A celebration of life will be held at 1 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 2, 2015, at Metropolitan Baptist Church, 125 County St., Suffolk. She will be laid to rest in Carver Memorial Cemetery.
