Jettie Louise Boswell Chavis

Jettie Louise Boswell Chavis, 69, passed away Jan. 14, 2016. She was born in Radford to Jesse June Beach and the late Eddie Boswell. Jettie was predeceased by her daughter, Donna Belcher. Jettie was a retired Suffolk Public School System bus sriver. She attended Southside Baptist Church. Jettie will be remembered for her strong will to live, her unwavering faith in God and her love for her family and friends.
Jettie is survived by her husband of 39 years, Robert “Buddy” Lee Chavis Sr.; son, Robert “Bobby” Lee Chavis Jr. (Andrea); daughter, Patricia C. DeMatteo (Joe); grandchildren, Eddie Belcher Jr., Jaida Chavis, Alexis Belcher, Lea DeMatteo, Anna DeMatteo and Joey DeMatteo; sister, Regina Sylvia (John); brothers, George Boswell and Wayne Boswell (Nicole); son-in-law, Eddie Belcher Sr.; and numerous nieces and nephews. The family would like to thank her niece, Jennifer Boswell, for her loving care.
A funeral service will be held at Community Baptist Church, 3520 Pruden Blvd., Suffolk, VA 23434 on Monday, Jan. 18, 2016, at 2 p.m. with Pastor David Nichols officiating. Visitation will be held Sunday, Jan. 17, from 7 to 8:30 p.m. at Parr Funeral Home & Crematory, 3515 Robs Drive, Suffolk, VA 23434 and other times at the home of Bobby Chavis Jr. Burial will follow at Nansemond Suffolk Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Community Baptist Church or Nansemond Suffolk Rescue Squad, P.O. Box 1515, Suffolk, VA 23439.
